Prom 2017

Junior and Senior Prom @ The Woodlands Marriott
(May 13th, 2017 / 8:00pm-midnight)
This is a formal affair; however, if a boy does not desire to wear a tux, he may wear a suit and tie. Prom tickets will be sold from April 24th - May 11th. You may purchase tickets April 24th - May 7th online only at My School Bucks for $85 each. Online payments can be made with a credit card or electronic check.  Tickets can be purchased at lunches only from May 8th - May 11th at a cost of $90 cash only each. Prom tickets will NOT be sold before or after school. Juniors and Seniors planning to attend prom must purchase tickets by May 11th.  Refreshments and soft drinks will be served at prom.  Pictures will be taken by ImaginLight Photography and they will offer several packages. Mr. Golden Bear

Seniors Can Attend Prom for $25 each??? How???  Our goal is to have fun and raise $18,000 through the Mr. Golden Bear event so that the entire senior class can attend prom for $25 each.

Yes that is right every senior at MHS may attend prom for $25 each if we can reach our goal. How can that happen you ask? Well come watch the Mr. Golden Bear competition. Tickets are $10 each. Get your family and friends to help sponsor one of the participants. Join in small competitions for the audience during the show. Every dollar counts. All proceeds are going to the prom ticket discount for the seniors. Full price for a prom ticket is $85. Let’s work on this for those seniors so all can attend. If you are a junior..don't worry, you will have this same opportunity next year. Come join in the fun and cheer on all our participants. College Decision Day Pizza Party

The PTO at Montgomery High School is helping our College & Career Counselor, Mrs. LaBruyere, sponsor a pizza party for seniors who have turned in their college acceptance letters. The party is to help celebrate their "College Decision"! There will be two parties held this spring.

The first party will be Thursday, January 12th. We are asking for donations of drinks & desserts. We will need the drinks dropped off to the school by Tuesday, January 10 and the desserts can be dropped off at the school by 11am on Thursday, January 12.

Bears to Brag About!

Congratulations to Ms. Zuilhoff for being named the October Teacher of the Month. Ms. Zuilhoff teaches Biology in our Science Department and is doing a fantastic job as a first year teacher and coach! Way to go Ms. Z !!!

Academic All-District: Congratulations to the following varsity football players for being named Academic All District: Luke Coleman, Jordan Hood, Alex Nunn, Dillon Haas, Hunter Logeman, Caleb Campbell, Will Reynolds, Cameron McLeod, Keaton Bussell, Dalton Niesner, Jackson Hendrix, Wesley May, Josh Whitlock, Quentin Edmiston, Ryan Johnson, Aidan Morgensteren, and Jody Miller.

The Montgomery High School Choir Program had a great night last night at the Pre-Area audition. A process that began back in September with over 900 region students ended last night with five students selected per voice part. Montgomery High School Choir was fortunate enough to have 5 students advance to the final round of the All-State Choir auditions and 2 alternates. This is a new record for the Montgomery High School Choir Department. These students will compete in the final round in January to become members of the Texas All State Choir. Congratulations to alternates Kenton Hignett and Melanie McCreary, and a huge congratulations and good luck at your next audition to Adam Wylie, Katie Wallace, Tyler Hermes, Emily LeBlanc, and Jennifer Mejia.

JROTC: Led by the stupendous efforts of Terry Nicks, Ashlee Streett and Daniela Taylor, Montgomery JROTC took first place overall for the second year in a row at the Aransas Pass Field Meet in November. Teams finished 1st in Academics, and the Obstacle Course and second in Orienteering. Individual medals were earned by Terry Nicks for 3rd place in Academics, Emma Taylor for 1st Place in the Combat Fitness Test and Makayla Gudelman for 3rd place in the Combat Fitness Test.

Our winners for the Class of 2020 Generation Texas CHALLENGE are Kenzie Spreen and Emma Sears! Kenzie found a senior who completed a college application AND FAFSA for a chance to enter the gift card drawing! These two students need to come by the College and Career Center on Monday, Dec. 5th for their gift cards! Congrats!

The Montgomery Lady Bear Varsity Gold team finished 2nd yesterday @ The Magnolia West Invitational led by Junior Reagan Deaton's 83 and Sophomore MCKAYLIE Self's 85, the gold team also had great play from Bree Mask, Meagan Pistone, Ellie Hadley. The JV Purple team also played and finished in 8th place led by Olivia Hattersley's 100, also playing well were Kristen Maray, Cricket Heaton, and Emily Epps. Great job Ladies!

Two weeks ago, Halena Rahmaan raced at the Nike South Cross Country Regional. She finished 5th out of the 5 individual spots that qualify for Nike Nationals in Portland Oregon, where she competed this past Saturday, Dec. 3rd. Halena finished 133rd out of 199 runners in a grueling muddy and hilly race. Congrats on an outstanding season.

The Montgomery High School Troupe of the International Thespian Society held its induction of new members on Thursday, December 1st. The Thespian Society is a worldwide organization that honors youth who take an interest in and support their local high school theatres. Our local chapter, Troupe #5986 was chartered at the beginning of the New Year. To be eligible for induction, students must log in at least 100 hours in the theatre department, have been involved in at least two productions, and or been involved in at least two technical aspects of a production. Our new Thespian Inductees are: Joshua Bullard, Tyler Childers, Christopher Clark, Casey Cramer, Dawson Dickey, Dillon Dickey, Malerie Dozier, Myckah Finn, Hunter Johnson, Spencer Johnson, Samuel Irving, Lauren Maciariello, Tony Piccirilli, Jack Russell, Andrew Steward, Colton Taylor, Natalie Wagner, Justin Wiley, Kayla Williamson

Final Exams

  • Wednesday, Dec 14th: 4th & 8th Period Finals
  • Thursday, Dec 15th: 1st, 3rd, & 6th Period Finals
  • Friday, Dec 16th: 2nd, 5th, & 7th Period Finals
The MHS Exam Exemption Policy is designed to reward students for good grades, near-perfect attendance, and good behavior throughout the year. The following criteria, similar to other high–performing high schools, were developed to encourage behaviors that lead to student success in high school and beyond. Please make sure that if you have any unclears please see Mr. Lopez or Mrs. Coleman in B228 to avoid any problems with exempting your finals. You will NOT exempt if you are unclear. Important deadlines for meeting the exemption criteria (remember – there are no exceptions to the exemption criteria):
  • You must have no outstanding obligations!! This includes fines, textbooks, parking, online registration, or owed detentions!! These must be cleared up by December 5th in order to exempt
  • You can have no more than 4 absences per class and NO Unexcused absences. Please check your attendance now to clear up any discrepancies. The deadline to clear up absences is also December 5th
  • Again, no changes will be made after December 5th!! Don’t let the deadline sneak up and lose your chance to exempt your finals!!

Want to get jump start to your holiday shopping? On October 21, at the Montgomery vs College Park home football game, visit the Kendra Scott Pop-Up Jewelry Store at Bear Stadium. 

Shopping will be available from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, so stop by and SHOP before the game! Why drive to the Woodlands when you can get Holiday shopping done right here in Montgomery! Kendra Scott Jewelry will also be set up outside the gates of the stadium, so stop by whether or not you’ll be attending the game. Only credit cards or gift cards can be used to purchase jewelry. No cash or checks! This event is hosted with MHS and 20% of the proceeds will go back to MHS PTO.
